History of Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department
|
Richland Township's Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1948. A small number of men gathered and determined that the only volunteer fire department in the area was Wexford Volunteer Fire Department and Hampton Volunteer Fire Department. These honorable men created what is known as Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department. They built Station One on Meridian Road and many of Station One's aspects remain the same today as it did in 1948. They built multiple bay areas as they had the vision that the department would grow and flourish.
The Richland Township community was overjoyed with the start of their very own volunteer fire department and they had a community-wide ceremony celebrating the moment. The pictures to the right show the celebration of the establishment of the fire department! Over the past 75 years, everything about Richland Township VFD has expanded, grown, and served the community in varying ways! The department has responded to the aid of various neighboring communities including Hampton Township, West Deer, Middlesex, Wexford, Valencia, Adams, and any other community who is in need. Members continue to serve Richland and neighboring communities with as much excitement, passion, and dedication as the very first members of the department. The department will continue to provide life-saving professional services to all of Richland Township and neighboring communities for hundreds of years to come. |
